Experimental study on foam concrete as a sub-base layer of rigid pavement

Abstract Rigid pavement consists of three main layers, the base, sub-base and subgrade. Engineers mainly prefered choosing rigid for heavy load road construction because concrete mixture in this type has advantages terms strength, durability design life. However, also several disadvantages: relatively high maintenance costs. As time goes by, researchers have developed modified mixtures; one them is foam concrete. Foam strength similar to general but with a lighter mass more affordable cost. This study examines concrete’s mechanical properties properness as layer on pavement. The research was conducted experimentally lab five different densities mixture. results showed that sample density 1.0 g/cm 3 passed minimum compressive flexural values at 0.896 MPa 0.0059 respectively. indicates increasing may increase its lose advantage being lightweight material means weight. Thus, it can be concluded using advantageous implementing construction.
